The Korean scrub is a fundamentally different approach to skin care. Instead of creams, serums, or chemical exfoliants, it uses a single tool — a textured mitt called an Italy towel — and friction. Applied after steam, it removes dead skin ...

What happens step by step

Facilities — steam room + hot & cold plunge pools

The scrub only works after the skin has been properly prepared. Steam opens the pores and softens the outer layer of dead skin, making it easy to remove. This step is not optional — it's what makes the Korean scrub different from a dry exfoliation.

Korean body scrub — traditional Italy towel

Your therapist at our Ubud spa works across your entire body with an Italy towel mitt in firm, rhythmic strokes. You'll see the dead skin rolling off. The sequence covers every area — back, arms, legs, front — working systematically until the entire body is done. What's left underneath is fresh skin that hasn't seen daylight in weeks.

What you walk away with

Visibly different skin — Dead skin that accumulates over weeks is removed in a single session. The difference is immediately visible and tactile.

Deep cleanse — The Italy towel reaches layers of the skin that soap and water cannot. It's a physical reset for your skin's surface.

Better product absorption — Freshly exfoliated skin absorbs moisturisers, oils, and serums at a fraction of the usual resistance. Any skincare you apply after will be more effective.

Improved circulation — The firm friction of the scrub stimulates blood flow and the lymphatic system across the entire body.

Smooth texture — Most guests describe the softest skin they've experienced since childhood. The effect lasts several days.

Questions

About korean scrub

What guests usually ask before booking.

I've had body scrubs before. Is this different?

Yes — significantly. Most body scrubs use sugar or salt mixed with oil applied with hands. A Korean scrub uses a dry Italy towel mitt and friction. The amount of dead skin removed is orders of magnitude higher. It's not a relaxing treatment in the traditional sense — it's a thorough physical cleanse.

How often should you get a Korean scrub?

Most regular guests come once every 2–4 weeks. The dead skin layer regenerates in roughly that time. Some guests come weekly.

Does it leave skin red?

Mild redness immediately after is normal — the skin has been thoroughly exfoliated and circulation is stimulated. It fades within a few hours. Most guests describe their skin as glowing rather than red.

Can I add a massage to the Korean Scrub?

Yes — use our add-on system when booking to add a 30-minute Balinese or aromatherapy massage. Or book the full Korean Zen treatment for a complete 3-hour experience.
